Vocals, guitar and harmonica.

Larry’s day job has changed over the years. Starting out as a mechanic and eventually moving into his family’s business he moved from the repair garage into a managerial position. After the family business got sold he took two courses at Conestoga College in web design and digital media and started a web design business. Being semi-retired, having some spare time and wanting to give back to his community he ran and was successfully elected as a local Councillor.

Music has always been a hobby of sorts. While in grade school he signed up to take Spanish guitar lessons with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Something went wrong and he ended up playing the Hawaiian guitar (laptop steel). Not being too interested in that he bought an acoustic guitar from Simpson Sears (no relation to the other band member Brad). What ever happened to that guitar, it was cheap but fancy? Over the years he has upgraded instruments and now plays acoustic, electric guitar and the harmonica.

He started singing with two friends mostly at church events and together they started a band called the “Stirling Silver Trio”. Those band members were Larry, Tom Musselman and Mark Reusser. That band eventually grew in numbers and got renamed to Menno Valley Sound. What a great bunch of friends to get together with and doing what we love. Sadly we lost two band members Tom (ALS) and Sam (Cancer). However, we have been fortunate to be able to find new members with the same vision – have fun, make music but able to laugh at our mistakes!

In his off time, he enjoys spending time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Spending time at the cottage and fishing are summer hi-lites along with listening to the Blue Jays while mowing the lawn.
